DAMIAN Cupido has dropped a bombshell on the eve of the season and has signed with Murray league club Rumbalara.
Despite re-signing with Henty half-way through last season, Rumbalara lodged a clearance for Cupido late on Monday evening.
The former AFL player is based in Shepparton and coached Rumbalara to its maiden flag in the Murray league in 2014.
Cupido said he and his partner were expecting their first child in May which had led to his decision to switch clubs.
"This is probably the first time that I have had to make a decision that doesn't involve just myself, football and money," Cupido said.
"I've been living in Melbourne since October for employment reasons but I just want to come back home to Shepparton and find some work.

"Rumbalara have indicated they can find me some employment if I signed with them.
"I know I signed a contract with Henty but my circumstances have changed."
Henty coach, Joel Price, said he wouldn't be losing his goalkicking ace without a fight.
"Damian signed a contract with Henty in August last year and is a required player for this season," Price said.
Cupido said it was one of the most difficult decisions he had faced during his playing career.
"I love Henty, I love the people there and I've been good friends with Joel Price for a long time," he said.
"I just want to do the right thing by my family.
"I know it's been well documented that I've played footy all over the place because I'm pretty good at it and clubs chase you.

"I want to play at Henty but I don't want to work in Melbourne and travel to Henty.
"The perfect scenario would be if I could live and work in Shepparton and play for Henty on the weekends.
"We'll see what happens."
