The participation and energy of the crowd at the annual Mighty Mitta Muster is second only to the Sydney Show for Jindera's Jake Van Dorssen, a two-time world champion in tent-pegging.

The centuries-old equestrian sport, where four riders gallop past pegs in the ground and aim to pierce them with a lance, was on display in front of thousands at the 47th muster.
Van Dorssen, who turns 70 this year, said he loved the sport for its speed and intensity.
“We (the North East Tentpegging Team) were in Newcastle last week and we’re heading to Sydney soon, and then we’ll have the Australian championships,” he said.
“I’ve been attending the muster here for 30 years or longer and it’s always a great crowd.”
All eyes were on the main arena at the Magorra Park Recreation Reserve for wood chopping, junior whip cracking and the Mitta Gift, which proved jeans and boots are no hindrance to a successful sprint.
In the dog jumping, the Carroll family of Tarrawingee added to the trophy cabinet with kelpie Kevin coming close to the muster’s record jump, clearing a stunning 2.5 metres.
It was the 10th year of the Stockman's Challenge, and muster committee secretary Lorrae Smyth said new events had also been added to the schedule.
"We had the Lachie Cosser show this year which is great, and we introduced the strongman's display last year and it became a full-on challenge this year," she said.
"There was a new novelty race, which was chop, run and ride, and the tug of war is always a popular part of the day.
"We seem to have a really good crowd this year."
Ms Smyth said proceeds from the muster went to community projects, like the new multi-purpose centre at the recreation reserve which opened in 2015.
"We should be able to pay off the building completely following this muster," she said.
"The muster is the biggest event for the area.
"It's a great family-friendly, entertaining community day and all the local volunteers put in the hard work to get it done.
"Without them it wouldn't be so successful."
