YARRAWONGA star Jess Koopman has emerged as the wildcard in Southern Districts' quest to win back-to-back Northern Territory Premier League flags.
I'm just being a little rat in the forward lineJess Koopman
Koopman was unstoppable with six goals in the side's thrashing of Tiwi Bombers at the weekend and is set to command plenty of attention from Nightcliff in Saturday's grand final at TIO Stadium.
Wodonga Raiders duo Brodie Filo and Daniel Bowles will play for Nightcliff.
"I'm loving it," Koopman said.
"There are a few O and M boys up here.
"It was pretty easy in the preliminary final when the game opened up and I just got on the end of a few in junk time.
"I'm just being a little rat in the forward line."
Koopman has kicked 43 goals in 15 matches for Southern Districts after heading north before Christmas with Yarrawonga best and fairest winner Harry Wheeler.
Koopman will return to Yarrawonga in late March.
"It's a lot different to the O and M," he said.
"It's quicker and a lot slipperier.
"The ball is like a cake of soap but you get used to it.
"I've loved it and it will be even better if we win this week.
"We put a lot of forward pressure on against Tiwi Bombers and we'll look to do the same on Saturday."
Corowa-Rutherglen's Tim Brook, Henty's Jared Brennan and former Wangaratta and Finley player Ed Barlow also play for Southern Districts.
Wheeler played six matches before Christmas before returning home.
Yarrawonga defeated Therry Penola in its opening practice match at the weekend.
