Mazambi fell awkwardly while competing for a header during Diamonds' 8-1 loss to Wangaratta in round one on Sunday.
The clash was brought to a standstill in the first half as the ambulance arrived.
Mazambi was taken to Wangaratta hospital where scans revealed a broken wrist and forearm.
He had surgery on Tuesday and has since returned home.

Diamonds' coach Nagus Henry admitted it will be a lengthy recovery for Mazambi.
"He jumped up for a header and one of the Wangaratta players was underneath him and he fell awkwardly," Henry said.
"We had only played about 20 minutes of the first half."
Diamonds' reserve coach Daniel Lucas said he had "chills" after seeing the extent of the injury.
