Souquet had several rides on the Thursday meeting and said the track raced perfectly.
"Luke Garland does a fantastic job and put a bit of water on the track on Wednesday to take a bit of fire out of the track for the Thursday and Friday," Souquet said.
"The storm was just one of those things and it was a freak of nature what happened on Friday morning.
"It's nobody's fault
"Luke done exactly what every other curator would have done.
"He didn't over water it, he didn't under water it."
Souquet said he didn't walk the track after the downpour.
"I didn't actually walk the track and was going off what the stewards were telling me," he said.
"It is always a little bit patchy around that area of the track.
"I think any track that gets renovated, it takes two years before it settles down.
"So I'm not going to pot the track and will reserve my judgement until its been two years.
"I remember when Seymour was renovated and I rode there the first time it was re-opened and they had to call it off because the track hadn't consolidated.
"It's the same with Albury and it will be a lot better again in 12 months time."
Jockeys were also left out of pocket on the day and don't receive their $220 riding fee when meetings are abandoned.
Racing NSW is expected to announce if the Gold cup meeting will be re-run today.
