Last year: Premier (15-0)
Gains: Ash Murray and Michael Sims (Murray Magpies), Daniel Kannenberg (Thurgoona), Jackson Bird (Howlong), John McCabe (Tallangatta), Jayden Garth (Thurgoona)
Losses: Zac Burhop (Wodonga), Taylor Fenton (overseas) Simon Hillier (North Albury), Dugal Paton (Mitta United)
Prospects: The Bulldogs will start at unbackable odds to clinch another premiership. While league best and fairest Zac Burhop is a loss, the gains far outweigh the losses. Ash Murray is coming off a 62-goal season for Murray Magpies while Michael Sims will add some class around the packs. Thurgoona's Daniel Kannenberg could be the biggest inclusion though with the veteran's run from defence set to make the reigning premier even more dangerous. Taylor Fenton will miss the start of the season while overseas but could return late in the home and away series.
Comment: "I'd like to think we will be as strong as last season. Hopefully the hunger is there again for another good year," club president Shayne Ried said.
Prediction: 1st
FEDERAL
Coach: Steve Fouracre
Last year: Runner-up (11-4)
Gains: Nil
Losses: Mitch Paton (Kiewa-Sandy Creek), Tim Seymour, Jimmy Scannell and John Fahey (Howlong)
Prospects: Will be thereabouts.
Prediction: 3rd
CORRYONG
Coach: Evan Nicholas
Last year: Third (8-7)
Gains: Pierre Wall (Cooma)
Losses: Nathan Grimes (Warrandyte), Brenton Low (Picola league), David Low (Cudgewa), Matt and Kyle McNamara, Danny Demarte, Jarrod Williams (Barnawartha), Dan McInnes (retired), Matt Damm
Prospects: Corryong has taken some heavy hits over the summer and will be hard pressed to stay in the top four. The Demons have several recruits in the pipeline and need some top-end talent to stay in touch with the competition's pacesetters. Max Duncan will add another dimension on the bench.
Comments: "Hopefully we can pick up a few late. If we can I'd say we will be playing our best footy in the second-half of the season," coach Evan Nicholas said.
Prediction: 5th
CUDGEWA
Coach: Brayden Carey
Last year: Fourth (9-6)
Gains: Brayden, Tyson and Dayne Carey, Ryan Mee, Richie Worchester (Beechworth), Adam Healy, Jake Hill, Robbie Smith, Ethan Riddington, (Tallangatta), David Low (Corryong), Kylin Morey (Brock-Burrum), Ben Hall (Yackandandah), Sam Ryan, Rhys Kimball (Thurgoona), Guy Pendergast (Lavington)
Losses: Mason Tait (injured), Jake Carkeek (Sydney), Sam Mirtschin, Kane Knight, Nathan Lefoe, Yarrod Hamilton, Jake, James and Jesse McInerney, Morgan Klippel, Elwin Bryce, Mick King
Prospects: Will take a virtual new side into round one. While the Blues have lost a handful of players, they have recruited some quality out of the Tallangatta and District league and are clearly the side most likely to challenge Bullioh. Ben Hall and Kylin Morey will add strength to Cudgewa's attack and David Low and the Careys will provide more run. The league needs Cudgewa to stand up to ensure Bullioh doesn't dominate again like last season.
Comment: "It's a new-look side but we think we have recruited well," coach Brayden Carey said.
Prediction: 2nd
BORDER-WALWA
Coach: Ben McCarthy, Ash Greenhill
Last year: Fifth (2-13)
Gains: Mitch Lauritzen, Miall and Jole Hoffmann (Rand-Walbundrie-Walla), Tom Wood (Lavington)
Losses: Clayton Bosman (Wodonga)
Prospects: After a tumultuous off-season, the Magpies have rallied and will field at least a senior side. Co-coach Ben McCarthy has 26 players on his books and hopes the number will grow before the season kick-off on April 27. Derryn Harding, Jamie McCarthy and Max Houston are set to be important players while Rand-Walbundrie-Walla ruckman Mitch Lauritzen should be handy at the centre bounces. Border-Walwa has already had one victory by fielding a side and it will be hoping for another one or two during the home and away series.
Comment: "We'll get a team on the field each week and go from there," co-coach Ben McCarthy said.
Prediction: 6th
TUMBARUMBA
Coach: Mitch Fennessy
Last year: Sixth (1-14)
Gains: Mick Foster (Northern Jets), Zane Litchfield, Reece Borg and Jake, Seth and Noah Bolton (Narrandera), Nic Langley (Tasmania), Zac Cottam (Lismore)
Losses: Cam Johnston
Prospects: The Roos are up and about after some strong recruiting. Key forward Mick Foster has crossed from Northern Jets and will provide some much-needed firepower in attack while Narrandera pair Zane Litchfield and Rhys Borg should also make their presence felt. The club will have its first hit-out against Dubbo at Dubbo this weekend.
Comment: "We were dirty we didn't win a couple more games last year. We lacked depth though and we've improved that this year." coach Mitch Fennessy said.
Prediction: 4th
