GARRY Zauner is seeking a meeting with Albury mayor Kevin Mack and general manager Frank Zaknich after his local building company was overlooked for the major stages of the Lavington Sportsground development due to be completed next year.

He and close to 20 staff members attended the council meeting this week when Hansen Yuncken was awarded the job even though the Zauner bid would cost ratepayers less and aimed to be completed earlier.
"Yes, we are clearly very disappointed with the outcome," Mr Zauner said.
"And yes there are aspects of the process which are sitting uncomfortably with us, and I also know with others and which I look forward to discussing with the mayor and his general manager.
"At the end of the day Zauner Construction has a long-standing, 60-year plus history of skin in the game within the local community, and particularly in Lavington.
"We have over that period provided employment to many, and supported local ratepayers and community projects.
"We don't expect a free kick as a result of that support, but we do expect a fair go."
Mr Zaknich conceded it was a tough choice between two "high standard" bids.
"The successful tenderer was selected after a rigorous and intensive process aimed at delivering the best result for the community," he said.
"In this case, an assurance by the successful tenderer that sports clubs will be able to use the main ground while the works take place was a key factor in the decision."
Zauner also planned to keep the main oval open to user groups including Lavington Panthers Football-Netball Club for the duration of the works.
Hansen Yuncken was contacted for comment on being the awarded the council contract.
The project has attracted federal and state government funding support with conditions of the federal funding including completion by June 2020 unless a variation is sought.
