One of the victims of the incident, which occurred on Dalgeish Street in Wodonga about 7pm on February 22, was stabbed in the back and another had the scissors swung at their throat.
Joel Rodney Butler, 18, had initially contested the allegations levelled at him by police during a recent appearance in the Wodonga Magistrates Court.
The court heard Butler shouted "I'm going to kill you" as he held the scissors in his right hand.
"If you wanna go, I'll f---ing stab you," he said.
One of the trio was stabbed in the shoulder blade, and received a small puncture wound.
A dispute had begun on Facebook and led to the fight, the court heard.
Some of the incident was caught on camera, and defence lawyer Geoff Clancy said there was "a lot more going on" during the altercation.
One on the three victims threw a rock at Butler's head, the court heard.
Questions were raised about possible self defence, which magistrate Ian Watkins said could be an "ambitious" argument to make.
"It could be open that it was excessive self defence," Mr Clancy replied.
The court heard Butler had an intellectual disability and had been in custody since the day of the attack.
He has an application before the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The matter will return to court on May 7 for sentencing.
Mr Clancy said his client wasn't applying for bail before the sentence.
