All students at Glenroy Public School, about 180 in total, took part in the 4th International Kids Yoga Day, which started in the US and now boasts participants in 31 countries.
Facilitator Anna Gannon, of Mindful Warrior, led the youngsters and their teachers through some yoga positions on the school oval under bright sunshine.
"Just introducing the kids to new skills to calm and focus," she said.
"In such a busy world, you know, video games and YouTube and things like that, there's not a lot of that these days.
"We're always go, go, go, so yoga and mindfulness and meditation is really important."

Miss Gannon said she emphasised techniques with breathing, being something every child did all the time.
"It can get them out of anxiety, panic attacks and just even something escalating like getting really angry and making not a good choice," she said.
