When the project was announced 12 months ago, it had a $1.3 million price tag that included $600,000 from Wodonga Council; $150,000 from Albury Council; a total of $500,000 from the Victorian government, Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria; and $50,000 from Cricket NSW.
But the best-value tender from Albury-based company Southern Cross Developers came in at $1.51 million.
Councillors will be asked to consider spending the extra money at Monday night's meeting.
"For the project to proceed, council could fund the additional budget requirements from savings within the current capital program," the agenda stated.
A price tag as low as $1.5 million was only offered after tenders were advertised for a second time in February.
The first round of submissions were deemed "unacceptable" by the council.
"Prior to readvertising the tender, council officers met with Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria and Cricket NSW representatives to complete a value management exercise," the report stated.
"When completed, the facility would be a regionally significant venue to enhance club competition and development of programs for players, coaches and umpires, whilst accommodating the regional administrative needs of cricket.
The indoor cricket training centre would be located at Wodonga's Birallee Park, but be available for use by cricket players on both sides of the border.
Officers have recommended councillors accept spending the extra $210,000 from the current capital works budget, saying "the community have been involved in the development of the project for some time and are expecting an outcome".
Monday night's meeting at Wodonga Council Chambers will begin at 6pm.
