Web developer Sidney Steele has been given a trip to a hackathon and investors forum in China after taking out the inaugural Pitch Fest event in Wangaratta.
His web platform "MachEst", which automates CNC design quotations, was chosen at a Wangaratta even last week where innovative people with idea for start-up businesses pitched their ideas.
"It's really exciting to build this type of stuff locally. This is really going to put North East Victoria on the map, encourage growth and keep our people local with new opportunities," Mr Steele said.
Startup Shakeup co-ordinator Emma Jones, who has been working with potential innovators in the North East, said she "was truly impressed by the quality of submissions".
"It's clear from our first pitch night that North East Vic has caught the startup bug," she said.
"With the support and interest shown last night, our Startup Shakeup community will only strengthen."
