Weather forecasts are great and fishing predictions are pretty good.

Meaning there's no excuse for you not to be having a fantastic time.

I suppose there's a fair few people out and about, as there always is at Easter, but with Anzac Day also breaking up the week, I suspect that there will be a few extra starters.

If you're back in time or in the vicinity, don't forget about the free lifejacket info sessions being held this week.

They're going to be held on Friday, from midday to 3pm, at Hovel Tree Park in Albury, and at the Mulwala Water Ski Club boat ramp, Mulwala on Saturday, again from midday until 3pm.

Don't forget to bring along your jackets. You'll get free parts to use on your old jackets and information on how to fit them, or a $15 voucher toward a new life jacket.

Dartmouth (63.3 per cent) - is holding pretty steady, now releases have slowed down.

Last weekend, a few fishos picked up trout on the troll with just about everyone that had any success downrigging between 14-20m.

One crew did well on large (28g) Tassie Devils in the lime frog pattern.

The other crew caught the bulk of theirs using a wax wing, which is a lure that is now unavailable unfortunately.

At least we know that there's a few about and I'd expect to hear some decent reports from up that way after the Easter break too.

Blowering (25.4 per cent) - is one of the very few lakes rising at the moment, jumping couple of per cent over the past couple of weeks.

It hasn't hurt the fishing either, with Cliff Hensell picking up a 1.200 whopper on a Gantarell.

The Snowy Lakes - are all dropping fractionally, and while there's a few being caught, things are still a little tough.

The warmer weather and lack of rain has kept them down longer than normal, so downrigging is still the go-to technique.

All those keen spawning-run fishos out there will also be desperate for some decent rain and cool weather to get all those big buggers congregating around the river mouths.

Unfortunately, there doesn't look to be too much on the horizon, at least in the short term. But still, here's hoping.

Streams - weren't fantastic last week, but let's hope they've picked up.

I can't see why those trout shouldn't fire up, but would expect them to slow down as the traffic gets to them and the water gets beaten to foam over the next few days.

The Murray - I know I sound like a broken record but, both above and below Lake Hume, the Murray's been fantastic!

Upstream is probably fishing a little better than below Albury, but both have been consistent on bait and lure all season. I'll be absolutely amazed if we don't see a few photos of metre-plus fish from this weekend.

On that note, congrats to Darren Read on his first metery. Read nailed a 1.02m in the Upper Murray late last week.

Mulwala - has been great for some and tough for others, but that's fishing I suppose. There's still enough good fish coming over the side to keep most fishos having a crack though, with most big fish being reported on swimbaits.
