THE closure of High Street means next week's Anzac Day march in Wodonga will follow a route used five years ago when another phase of roadworks shut-off the shopping strip.

The RSL has announced the parade route will travel south from the city's RSL sub-branch along Havelock Street before swinging into Lawrence Street and then turning into Hovell Street for a salute to be taken at Woodland Grove.
The same passage was used in 2014 when High Street, as it is now, was cut-off between Elgin Boulevard and the Water Tower because of a makeover.
Wodonga sub-branch secretary Peter Derriman said the city council wanted the parade to start at Junction Place and filter through Hume Street prior to entering Lawrence Street and ending at the cenotaph at the grove.
However, he said that proposal was rejected due to the ease of the traditional starting point.
"All the old and bold would be used to going to the RSL and we thought it would be easier to stick with the RSL as the origin point to them pushing off to the cenotaph," Mr Derriman said.
The proximity of Easter to Anzac Day, with just a two-day gap, is set to test spectator numbers.
"It will either be a bonanza year and we'll have heaps of people in town, tourists or visitors, or all of the locals will have fled the place and gone to the coast," Mr Derriman said.
"I don't know, it might be slim pickings."
Those participating in the march are expected to arrive from 10am on Thursday with forming up from 10.15am ahead of it setting off at 10.40am.
It will be followed by the traditional memorial service at 11am.
