The Lions were never seriously challenged as they cruised to a 48 to 26 victory.
They now boast a 2-1 record after finishing the season strongly last year to just miss finals.
Coach Cara Geddes was pleasantly surprised to start the season so well.
"We are definitely hoping finals is a realistic goal this season," Geddes said.
"We got on a bit of a run late in the season last year when we won four or five of our last six matches.
"We were hoping to build on that momentum and the early signs are promising."
The Lions were outstanding defensively with Lucy and Georgia Way combining well.
Claudia Wright was best-on-court playing in the centre.
"I knew we had the skill to improve this season," Geddes said.
"It's pleasing to be happening so early."
