Feast High Country Festival opening weekend, Saturday, May 4, until Sunday, May 5, festival winds up May 19
The culinary stars of the North East will align for the Feast High Country Festival. Over three weekends, 40 events will cover all styles of produce, producers, chefs, makers and brewers. Seventeen events will run over opening weekend alone this weekend. Award-winning Melbourne chef Scott Pickett from Estelle will team up with Simon Arkless from The Terrace at All Saints for a special dinner at Wahgunyah on Saturday.
CRUISE CONTROL
Beechworth Drive Back In Time, Saturday, May 4, from 10am, until Sunday, May 5, from 8am
Now in its 21st year, Beechworth Drive Back In Time goes from strength to strength. Up to 250 rare, classic and vintage cars will converge on the historic streets around town. The Beechworth Old Crank's Club event attracts motorists from Victoria, NSW and the ACT. It kicks off with a tractor run on Saturday at 10am. Enjoy a barbecue lunch at the Old Railway Station, followed by a points of interest run. Classic cars will gather at the old railway station at 4.30pm before a street cruise. On Sunday, cars and motorbikes will be lined up along Ford Street.
FAST FIX
Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga, The Sustainable Activity Centre, Lincoln Causeway, Saturday, May 4, 10am to 1pm
Does your costume jewellery need some TLC? Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga can help with re-threading beads and attaching clasps. The May cafe will be the last chance to fix bikes before the winter recess. The repair cafe is a free meeting place to bring along broken household items such as furniture, clothing and battery-operated appliances.
Sydney Writers' Festival Live and Local, streaming to Albury Library Museum, Saturday, May 4, 10am until Sunday, May 5, 7pm
The Sydney Writers' Festival Live and Local program is back in Albury for the fifth year. Featured authors include Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Meg Wolitzer, Rachel Kushner, David Marr, Max Porter and Leigh Sales.
Trinity Anglican College presents The Phantom of the Opera, Albury Entertainment Centre, Saturday, May 4, 1.30pm and 7.30pm
Trinity Anglican College is the first group to bring The Phantom of the Opera to Albury. It will be one of the first Australian schools to perform it too. Forty students will be involved on stage with 20 working behind the scenes.

Hans Hielscher organ recital, St Matthew's Anglican Church, Albury, Saturday, May 4, 2.30pm
International organist Hans Hielscher will play the Letourneau pipe organ at St Matthew's Anglican Church. The organist at the Lutheran Cathedral in Wiesbaden, Germany, since 1979, has given organ recitals worldwide.
