The combination of Sarah Senini and Skye Hillier proved dynamite in the goal circle for the Panthers, with Senini shooting 32 goals at 89 percent accuracy and Hillier 16 goals at 80.
"They've played together for a few years now and know each others games pretty well," Panthers coach Tamara Matthews said.
"They've both set themselves goals around getting their percentages up with their shooting this season and to shoot at 80 and 89 percent was outstanding."
Lavington's mid court stood up to the pressure from the reigning premiers well, with Sarah Meredith and Maggie Young also starring for the visitors in defence.
"We were pleased to come home with the win and test ourselves against obviously one of the strongest teams in the competition," Matthews said.
"It was a good chance for us to see where we're at.
"We knew we had to really try and win the game through the mid court and stop the ball, and I thought our mid court provided some excellent defensive pressure."
The Panthers are sitting on six wins from six games, having played an extra game during the season opener.
"We know that the next period of three weeks is probably going to be the toughest," Matthews said.
"It will give us a good indication of where we sit, particularly given that we've got a few changes to our side this year."
Goal shooter Amanda Umanski was the best for the home side, finishing the game off with 31 goals, while playing coach Kellie Keen shot 13.
The loss brings the Magpies to three wins and two losses after five rounds played this season.
In other Ovens and Murray netball games during the weekend, the Wodonga Raiders upstaged Myrtleford at home in a big win, 61-29.
House sisters Shaylah and Mackensey were the best for the Raiders through the mid court and goals, while defender Sophie Cappellari had a good game for the Saints.
Corowa Rutherglen's winning form continued as they defeated Albury 42-38 in a tight tussle.
Grace Senior shot 38 goals for the RoOs, while Sophie Hanrahan was among the best for her work in defence.
Over in North Albury, the Hoppers were too strong for the Wangaratta Rovers, securing the win 42-37.
And Yarrawonga outmuscled the Wodonga Bulldogs on their home turf to post a 67-45 goal win.
It was a huge 49 goal performance by Yarrawonga's young goal shooter Elle Brooks.
