Sandral ruptured his ACL at training recently with coach Al Austin saying the injury had been shattering for the emerging club.
"It was really disappointing for George and the club," Austin said.
"He had a bit on pressure on him and sort of fumbled the ball and went to pick it up again.
"His knee hyper-extended as he was leaning forward.
"It didn't look too much but he went down in a fair bit of pain.
"It's pretty shattering."
Sandral emerged as one of the league's rising stars last season with his dash and ball-winning ability attracting the attention of several Ovens and Murray clubs.
He has missed the Crows' impressive 3-1 win-loss start to the season which has made the side's performances even more creditable.
They are sitting on top of the ladder and will start favourites against Rand-Walbundrie-Walla at Oaklands on Saturday.
"It might be a first for the Crows (being on top of the ladder)," he said.
After beating Howlong on Saturday, the Crows have beaten every team in the competition except for Jindera.
John Simpson withdrew from the side on Saturday due to a quad injury with Austin hopeful of him returning against the Giants.
