D-DAY FOR BOMBERS
DEDERANG-Mt Beauty face a must win clash against Tallangatta on Saturday. It may be only round six but the Bombers desperately need another four points to stay in touch with the top-five. A tough fortnight looms after next week's inter-league bye with matches against Thurgoona and Barnawartha. Time for the Bombers to make a statement.
BARTON MEDAL
We have decided to have a stab at the early contenders for the Barton medal. Thurgoona's Jayden Kotzur would have to be among the leaders after several classy performances in the early rounds. Chiltern's Ricky Whitehead would also be right up there, booting several bags. Tallangatta's Scott Spencer has also been in terrific touch.
DEPTH
Like most seasons, injuries are going to play a big part in the make-up of the final five. It has become evident, apart from Thurgoona, that most clubs are struggling for depth. Kiewa-Sandy Creek were the latest victims after Mitta United scored an upset win last week. The Hawks were missing Jack Di Mizio, Jake Uslar, Caleb Beattie plus a handful of others.
