And the Dederang Picnic Race Club are now only looking forward after winning the Best Small Club at the 2018/19 Picnic Racing Awards.
The race club changed the date of this year's Dederang Cup from January to March due to extreme heat and secretary Alanna Kirley said it benefited the whole community.
"A lot of people were concerned about the date change but we had such a great turn out we have already locked in March 14 next year," she said.
"To take out the best small club award is for our community and shows that the picnic racing board supports the new date as well."
Ms Kirley said cup day is a major day for the whole community.
"Without it the local groups such as the football netball club and CFA don't get fundraising money and the rec reserve doesn't get their main income for the year either," she said.
"The amount of people which come through the gates also help the surrounding caravan parks, local shop and pub as well."
The later date also meant more children were able to enjoy the day as well according to Ms Kirley.
"It is a much better time of year to get the kids and enjoy a day out," she said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"It is hard to count how many we actually had this year because kids under 16 are free but we had so many more than previous years.
"Without those people who put together the race day we wouldn't be here and we hope it keeps growing each year."
