Wangaratta Rovers' 16-point win over Yarrawonga snapped the league's third-longest losing streak.
The Pigeons had clocked up 23 straight wins since the Hawks' 14-point victory in round 10, 2007.
Rovers hold the record for successive wins, racking up 26 against Wangaratta (1989-2002), while Wodonga is next with 24 against Wangaratta (1991-2003).
Albury's 22-match streak over North Albury (2008-) is now the third longest run.
DROUGHT BREAKER 2
And Albury's Luke Packer kicked his first goal in two years against Myrtleford.
The defender streamed forward early in the third quarter and landed a superb running shot.
The Tigers' veterans were superb and when Packer grappled with the feisty Lachie Dale midway through the final term, another one in Chris Hyde came charging to the popular Packer's defence.
JONES FOR JOEL
Is Albury powerhouse Alex Jones the new Joel Mackie?
In just his third senior game back after taking last year off with a knee injury, Jones was outstanding against the Saints with a Mackie-like power game.
Jones had 21 touches, charging through in the third quarter to set up co-coach Luke Daly for a goal.
Mackie himself had 19 touches and was damaging, but 25-year-old Jones looks the one most likely to replace the 32-year-old two-time Morris medallist when he retires.
MACCA'S TIME
Lavington's decision to debut a 15-year-old last year, joining the likes of ex-Sydney Swan Mark Powell and gun junior Corey Brown, is paying dividends.
"Macca Hallows got a lot of the footy and had 11 kicks," coach Simon Curtis said of the Year 11 student.
"You put a bit of time into these guys and they certainly repay you in the years to come."
FAST FINISH
Wangaratta coach Luke Morgan stressed to his players after the 100-point win over Wodonga he doesn't want them to clock off late.
The Pies kicked 4.6 to the battling Bullogs' 3.3 in the final term and in round five Lavington raced home with late goals.
"It's something we need to work on and we do need to play the entire games out," Morgan said.
CONFIDENCE AT CASEY
Tom McCaffrey played just his second game for Rovers after he was dropped from Casey Demons' VFL.
"Probably the last four weeks I've lost a bit of confidence," he said.
"The coach (Jade Rawlings) wants me to work on a few little things and get some footy in my hands, get some run and bounce.
"But Rovers are a great club to come back to."
MR BROWN'S BOYS
The O and M could well face a three-time Brisbane premiership player at rep level next year - as coach.
Jonathan Brown led Hampden to an 80-point hiding of Ballarat and he's hoping to face the O and M in AFL Victoria's five-six clash.
"They've always been renowned as one of the best, if not the best, leagues in the State ... but I'm sure we'd be up for it, embrace it," he said.
