The Murray United pair have committed to obtaining their C Licence, with a course commencing on July 8 at Shepparton.
Once qualified, the pair will be eligible to coach AWFA senior teams, as well as under-20s or any junior age groups in NPL.
"It's something I've been thinking about the last few years and around this area we don't have too many coaches that have experience playing at a level above the local competition," West said.
"When you're playing against ex A-League players and teams with professional coaches, you learn things from being in that environment.
"If there's anything I can help give back to the kids by getting my C Licence and taking the next step, I'd definitely love to.
Also in sport:
"It's a no-brainer - a course in Shepparton only an hour-an-a-half away to get a ticket that enables you to coach in the NPL, let alone AWFA, is fantastic.
"To be a head coach of an NPL team, you need to be enrolled in the B course, but in terms of locally for AWFA and under-20s and every other age group in the NPL, the C Licence is enough."
West has been helping out club chairman Darren Yates with Murray's under 12s, while Luty is a co-coach of the under-18s
"It's something I want to get more involved in probably starting from next year," West added.
"I don't want to take a step back from playing yet, but to be able to give some support to other coaches is vital."
