A WOMAN who had her disability scooter targeted by thieves has been overwhelmed by community support following the incident.

Olivia Beaufort, who has cerebral palsy, had struggled to leave her unit since the scooter was taken on Sunday night or Monday morning.
The mobility aid hasn't been found, but Ms Beafuort received a rental machine on Thursday while a permanent replacement is sought.

Five people had offered to lend her their scooters in the first two days after the theft.
"I can't believe people can be so generous - it's been incredible," she said.
"I have no words for how it makes me feel."

It could still take months for a replacement scooter to be made available through the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Police continue to investigate the theft.
"It has really impacted my independence and being able to get around," Ms Beaufort said.
"I haven't been out for a few days."
She hopes the temporary replacement will change that.
"It's just been mind-blowing," Ms Beaufort said of the response to her story.
"I never expected anything like it.
"I'm feeling very loved."
