Lavington defender Nick Meredith produced his best game this season against Myrtleford.
"I thought Nick Meredith was fantastic," coach Simon Curtis said.
"I'd hope to say he's back, he's just such a good player and hadn't been playing at the level he could for a little while now because of his injuries.
"I get excited when I see him going and flying for marks, rather than spoiling and running off."
It was Meredith's first game in three weeks due to suspension.
He took a series of strong marks, particularly in the third quarter, courageously running with the flight of the ball for one.
And at the other end, Lavington's forwards were excellent with Aidan Johnson and Adam Flagg kicking four and three goals respectively.
"I thought Adam Flagg was good, I thought he would get a good match-up, they don't have a lot of height back there and we did," Curtis said.
Flagg worried Saints' defencer Ryan Crisp, finishing with seven marks, while Johnson went one better.
"Aidan Johnson provided the contest and made the way for (crumbing forward) Macca Hallows," Curtis said.
Johnson is one of the favourites for recruit of the season, jumping to the top of the goalkicking ladder with 28 after the club's nine games.
Lavington was one of only four clubs to play a season opener so it has this weekend off.
