The 19-year-old is off to compete at the World Uni Games in Italy in three weeks time, after qualifying for the competition at the National Championships back in April.
Deacon took out a bronze medal in Adelaide in the 200m breaststroke final, the same event she will now race in overseas.
She will also take to the pool for the 100m breaststroke event.
Following the World Uni Games the talented swimmer will then travel to the US at the start of August for the US Open, where she will be exposed to more overseas racing experience.
Deacon said she's excited for her first opportunity to represent her country.
"I've never been to Italy before so I'm very excited," Deacon said.
"I got straight back to training after nationals and have just been training the whole way through.
"It's been really good."
Once a swimmer with the Wodonga Amateur Swimming Club, Deacon is now a part of the Nunawading Swimming Club's high-performance squad after moving to Melbourne to study at Monash University this year.
Deacon said she will have a few familiar faces with her for the big trip.
"There's five from the club who have all qualified for Italy as well as some others from Melbourne," Deacon said.
The talented youngster will also be travelling to Brisbane this weekend where she will swim in the World Trials competition.
Whilst she is unable to qualify due to competing in the Uni Games, Deacon said it should act as great experience in the lead up to her big overseas adventure.
The World Uni Games commence on July 3.
