After being trounced in their previous two hit-outs, the Bushrangers looked a more composed group as they ran-out 10.14 (74) to 4.12 (36) victors.
The return of experienced heads Ben Kelly, Dylan Clarke, Zane Barzen and Cam Wilson provided huge relief.
The Bushrangers kicked seven of the opening eight goals of the match in slippery conditions with Myrtleford's Ryley Bouker snaring two on debut.
They led by 42 points at half-time.
Tasmania, who went into the match with a 3-4 win-loss record, kicked the final two goals to put some respectability on the scoreboard.
The Murray Bushrangers have the bye this weekend before taking on Dandenong Stingrays at Shepley Oval on June 22.
