Joshua Clavell was moved from Albury Base Hospital into a waiting ambulance on Tuesday.
A hospital bed was found for the 30-year-old in Melbourne, allowing the extradition to take place.

The bearded Islamic extremist was charged with a string of offences after allegedly ramming a police car with his younger brother at Barnawartha North last Wednesday.
Clavell was wheeled from the hospital in a bed about 3.45pm as detectives and uniformed officers watched on.
He will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday on charges including intentional and aggravated exposure of police officer to risk by driving, seven counts of assaulting police, and damaging an emergency vehicle.
