The Dogs suffered their first loss of the season the previous week against Rutherglen who moved to the top of the ladder.
The home side faced the daunting task of taking on the second-placed Hawks without injured goal shooter Mardi Nicholson.
Despite the setback the home side grabbed the ascendancy early and were never seriously challenged once in front.

Dogs coach Kristie McInnes said it was pleasing to gain a physiological edge over the Hawks with the pair destined to meet during the finals series.
"On a wet day it's hard to show your best form," McInnes said.
"We are not getting too carried away with the win and are fully aware Kiewa were undermanned and missing both their shooters.
"So come finals we are under no illusion that it's going to be a lot tougher.
"Today were certainly the worst conditions that we have endured.
"From a coaches point of view it was good to bounce back from last week's loss against Rutherglen.
"Rutherglen are the side to beat but I don't mind us being the hunters compared to be the hunted."
Wing attack Kristen Andrews was the Bulldogs best before being switched into the centre for the final quarter.
Medgan Tschirpig was also rock solid in defence.
