Only eight days after upsetting ladder leader Gundagai, Adrian Purtell's side crashed back to earth in dramatic fashion as they conceded nine tries.
Purtell was at a loss to explain the performance.
"It was quite an embarrassing performance," Purtell said.
"It wasn't something we saw coming.
"We trained well during the week but the performance wasn't up to scratch.
"Good sides back up week-in week-out and that's something we need to work on."
Forwards Brad Hill and Joe Lumb tried hard for Thunder while youngster Jaidyn Hampton held his own on debut.
Liam Wiscombe scored two tries for Thunder and Damien Scott one.
Albury Thunder take on Temora at Greenfield Park on Sunday.
