BO'C: Congratulations on 150 A-grade games with the Magpies last weekend. How was the experience?
KD: Thanks, it was pretty awesome. It was a big weekend with lots of congratulations and celebrations. It was made even better by getting the win, which was fantastic.
BO'C: Having been around the club for a number of years now, what moments do you look back on as being really valuable?
KD: When I first started we didn't win many games at all. For me, I took it as an opportunity to tell myself that I was getting to play against the best players in the league and it was only going to get better. Even though it was tough, I just stuck it out and tried to see the positives in it. I think the culture of the club has really contributed to the success as well. There's some pretty awesome girls at our club at the moment that have been here for a while. They've been a really big part of where we're at at the moment.
BO'C: You started at Rovers and headed to the Magpies early on in your career. What was the draw card to get you over to the Magpies?
KD: A lot of my family members had played at the Magpies for many years before I was even born. When I first came into the league I was drawn in by one of my coaches from my old O and K club. She was coaching Rovers, so I came across there and just ended up going across the road.
ALSO IN SPORT:
BO'C: No regrets?
KD: No, definitely not. But I still have pretty great friendships with the girls I played with at the Rovers.
BO'C: What have been some of the your best memories from the last couple of years?
KD: Definitely last year's premiership is a highlight, but even just the first time we made the finals was fantastic. That was pretty special because the year before we missed out by point something of a percentage. I think we went out in straight sets, but we made it, and we were so proud of that achievement.
BO'C: Lastly, how's the team feeling in regards to the 2019 season?
KD: We're feeling pretty good. There's obviously been lots of changes in the league this year, which has been good. We've played everyone now and we still have lots of areas that we want to work on and improve. We're happy with how we're all travelling. We're hoping for a top three finish to give ourselves the double chance. Everyone's enjoying their netball and having fun.
The Wangaratta Magpies will take on undefeated Corowa-Rutherglen in Corowa on Saturday.
