Jamie Newton, 25, appeared in Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Monday to plead guilty to causing the damage.
He was walking with friends along Reid Street in Wangaratta at 5.45am on November 11 last year after a night out drinking when the fight started.
"I was clubbing then got into a fight with someone and pushed him through a window," Newton later told police.
"I didn't hit him.
"I was going to hit him, but then I thought f--- it, I'll push him through the window."
MORE NEWS FROM COURT:
Newton rammed the victim through the window of La Ronde Fine Lingerie, causing the glass to shatter.
It also damaged numerous lingerie items inside the shop, and the total cost came to $16,800.
The fight was captured on CCTV and seen by a taxi driver nearby, who also heard men he picked up in his taxi talking about the fight - and identify Newton as the offender.
"I regret it, I shouldn't have done it," Newton told the court on Monday.
La Ronde Fine Lingerie claimed the repairs in insurance so instead of having to pay the full amount of the damage, he was ordered to reimburse the shop for its $1657 excess cost.
Magistrate John Murphy said Newton could have killed the victim with the shattered glass, but placed him on a good behaviour bond, with the condition to donate $1000 to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
