The program blatantly showed the very bias the ABC is increasingly accused of. At no stage did it mention the enormous contribution irrigation farming has made to the national economy.
Also, there was no mention of the burgeoning amounts of water that have been appropriated in the name of the environment.
The biased opinion from the raft of commentators sends the wrong message to the wider consuming Australian audience.
Public opinion against the construction of urgently needed dams would have been sparked. Sure, there are problems with the basin plan. But the overall concept of capturing and storing excess rainfall to control flooding, and then for productive use, is sound.
The ABC has a strong support base across rural Australia, but if the emerging trend of stupidity in reporting continues this could be in jeopardy.
DAM STRAIGHT
Old mate Barnaby Joyce may be on the outer in certain circles, however he's right on the money when it comes to dam building.
Plans are in place to increase the size of Bungowan dam that provides Tamworth with water.
Procrastination seems to be the order of the day, but Barnaby has used colourful language to call out local and state governments to get moving.
Barnaby has also said that if the project costs more than estimated ... so what, just build it.
It is too late to build a dam or put in a tank after it has rained and it will.
