After trailing by five goals at the first change, the Bushrangers improved markedly but were unable to peg back the margin.
Jay Hillary and Lachie Ash were prominent around the packs while Wodonga Raiders youngster Dylan Clarke played well in his first match back from a quad injury.
Ash and Josh Rachele were the only multiple goalkickers with two each.
Rachele, who plays for Shepparton Swans, was making his debut after showing promise during the recent national under 16 carnival.
Corowa-Rutherglen's Will Chandler had his moments in attack and Elijah Hollands was moved to centre half-forward in the second-half and made his mark on the match.
Bushrangers talent manager Mick Wilson said the side was competitive after quarter-time.
"We started slowly and couldn't get back into the game," Wilson said.
Meanwhile, Albury youngster Ben Kelly faces an uncertain finish to the season after suffering a foot injury.
"He's got a hot spot on his foot," Wilson said.
"It could be one or two weeks or the season."
