Lillis said he was happy to hand over the coaching reins to Darren Holmes next season.
"I've had two years in charge and it was part of the plan that Darren would take over," Lillis said.
"We were able to beat three of the four sides that we are up against in the run home in the first round.
"So the intention is to finish the season off as strongly as we can.
"We will still look to give some of the kids game time and gain some experience for next season.
"Although we didn't make finals, the development of the younger guys has been one of the biggest positives."
