Burgess was charged with using abusive language against Wodonga Raiders' Luke Hodgkin on Saturday.
He accepted the one-match set penalty.
IN OTHER NEWS:
SUPER STOPPAGES
Wangaratta carved Lavington at the stoppages in the second quarter, remaining goal side and bursting away.
"It was a little bit of who dares wins with that," Lavington coach Simon Curtis said.
"I'd back our midfield to beat any midfield and that's one of our strengths, so if we can get the ball to someone who's free and if that means they're not picking up our players, I'll take that."
VB'S BACK
You could see the improvement in Wangaratta defender Dylan Van Berlo through the game.
The Victoria Country rep had played two games in the reserves after finally overcoming a quad complaint and started to take a series of grabs in a positive sign.
"It's probably just pleasing that he's got through a game of senior footy and his performance was really pleasing, he's been that missing link that we haven't had all year," coach Luke Morgan said.
TERRIFIC TIGERS
Corowa-Rutherglen coach Marc Almond couldn't have been more impressed by Albury.
"Their ability to transition the ball away from stoppage by handball was elite, it was probably as good as I've seen for the year," he enthused.
FUTURE UNCERTAIN
Wangaratta Rovers' defender Nathan Cooper has received a few nibbles after his outstanding season.
Cooper starred for the O and M in its interleague loss to Mornington Peninsula Nepean in May and then produced another top display for Victoria Country in its win over the Victorian Amateurs earlier this month.
Country coach and former Richmond mentor Danny Frawley suggested AFL clubs should look at him.
"There's been a little bit (of interest) after the Vic Country game, I actually went down to West Adelaide two years now but I wasn't really interested in moving to Adelaide," he said.
"I'll have a look at a VFL club, maybe a top-up player potentially, but I'm not sure what I'll do next year."
FIRST GOAL
Yarrawonga's Beau Seymour booted his first goal of the year on Saturday.
"Beau's played all year at fullback, but he went to full-forward and kicked an absolute freakish goal, from the boundary line and dribbled it through," coach Damian Sexton said.
Just on goals, and Jessie Smith nabbed the best one in the win over Lavington.
Michael Newton crashed the pack and Smith swooped, threading the needle along the boundary line with a grubber effort, in front of the grandstand.
Interestingly, Smith also spent time in defence.
BRODIE BACK
Wodonga Raiders' ruckman Brodie A'Vard should return at home against Corowa-Rutherglen on Saturday.
"He got a head knock against Rovers, so it was best to give him the week off, at this stage he'll play," coach Jarrod Hodgkin said.
