The Cats were rocked by the departure of spearhead Nick Brockley and midfielder Jared Farwell who both crossed to Hume league clubs before the June 30 clearance deadline.
Despite leaving a gaping hole in the Cats' line-up they were able to notch their best win of the season with a 6.15 (51) to 3.10 (28) upset of the Hoppers.

Co-coach Daniel Athanitis said the victory was a good reward for effort.
"We probably had the best side that we have available today which makes a huge difference," Athanitis said.
"We obviously had a tough mid-season when we lost a couple of players.
"We had to change our structures a fair bit to compensate and its taken a bit of time to adapt.
"I thought we trained really well during the week and it certainly translated into our performance."
