The Red Devils meant business right from the start and finished off strong, claiming three quick consecutive goals in the finals stages of the game with tensions high on the field.
Andy Barisic hit the back of the net to claim the last goal of the day.
Wangaratta coach Daniel Vasilevski admitted his side's loss to Melrose added extra fire in their belly coming into the weekend's game.
"Last week was a bit of a wake up call knowing that there's teams out there that really want to beat us," Vasilevski said.
"The way that we responded, that's exactly what I wanted the boys to do.
"They trained really solidly all week and were switched on from the get go.
"We had a set back last week but we've been able to turn it into a positive."
Vasilevski also praised his side for the continual fight they showed during the dying minutes of the game in order to keep Albury City goalless.
"That's something that we've tried to improve on and we've improved on it in the second half of the season," Vasilevski said.
The Red Devils still remain the team to beat this season securing top spot on the ladder with just one loss to their name after 19-rounds.
