BO'C: It's been a bit of a turbulent year for the Magpies with injuries, are you happy with how the team's tracking at the moment?
JE: Not at this stage. We're just outside the top six, so if we have a couple of wins at the end of the season we'll hopefully get back in there for finals. I went out when we played Howlong earlier this year and did my ankle, so I've hung up the boots. We lost Toya (Mahuru) almost a month ago, so that shook things up a bit. Our other goal defender, Grace (Butlin), who has come up from under-16's is a little asset for us and she did her ankle at training as well, so she's been out for a few weeks. When Toya went down we had some defenders come up from B-grade. Hannah (Phillips) did her hip and Ange (Crosswell) came up and did her hammy. Our attackers Hayley (Phillips) and Tara (Lieschke) were working really well and then it just sort of turned for us.
BO'C: With three games to go for the season could it come down to the last game against Osborne to maybe get into finals?
ALSO IN SPORT:
JE: Yeah exactly. We have Osborne and Culcairn coming up and they're just above us with it down to points. If we can knock both of them off, we should get in. This week we play Howlong. They're having an amazing year, but seeing them get shut down by Crows made us think that maybe we can do it. We came up against Crows and did alright when we were missing so many of our players. We'll see how we go. It just depends on who wants to get on the court.
BO'C: Are you expecting any injured players back in the next couple of weeks?
JE: We should have Grace back this week. She's been with our A-grade side all year, so hopefully she'll be right to come back. Toya and I are done. Ange should come back and hopefully Hannah as well, but with a hip injury it's not like you can just stretch it out. Grace will be back, but the rest of us will be bench warmers I think.
BO'C: You mentioned you're hanging up the boots in terms of playing. Are you going to continue coaching next season?
JE: I hope so. The under-16's that I'm co-coaching this year are going extremely well. We've got a massive number of girls and it's hard doing a roster. I love how the younger ones choose to listen. which is nice. I probably will coach again. It's sort of up in the air at the moment, but I dare say I'll be staying at Maggies and going again.
BO'C: You also have pretty exciting news off court with some wedding bells?
JE: There's not long to go until the wedding now, we'll see how it goes. Everything's done so I think we'll just suit up, say I do and have a big party. That's the plan.
