But he will have to wait six weeks to find out his punishment, after magistrate Rodney Brender ordered a sentence assessment report in Albury Local Court on Monday.
The court was told that Furner, a 33-year-old boilermaker from Lavington, was immediately remorseful on his arrest and was "co-operative with police throughout".
The victim had gone to Albury's Beer Deluxe bar with a few mates on the evening of May 4, before going to Sweethearts pizza restaurant at 3.30am.
Furner had also attended Beer Deluxe, as well as Zed Bar in Dean Street, that night with some friends.
As the victim approached the entrance, he heard Furner's group talking and laughing.
The victim went inside and used the toilet, then as he came out he stopped and asked Furner: "What was the problem, what have I done wrong?"
They argued, then Furner swung a right punch to the victim's face that landed on the left side of his jaw leaving him dazed.
He tried to throw several more punches then shoved the victim.
