The Young Writers Showcase anthology is produced by the NSW Education Standards Authority and consists of major works from English Extension 2 students, including short stories, poems, critical responses, scripts and speeches.
The hard work of the newly-published writers was celebrated during the anthology's launch at NSW State Library's WordeXpress event on Monday night.
Chairman of the NESA Board Tom Alegounarias said the students should be extremely proud to see their works in print.
"These 18 young writers representing 17 schools, have been selected from the more than 1600 students who studied HSC English Extension 2 in 2018," he said.
"To be included in this anthology is testament to their extraordinary writing skills.
"The creativity, maturity and literary excellence demonstrated by them is quite remarkable and no doubt will be well regarded by potential employers in whatever field they pursue."
WordeXpress was first held in 2012, and showcases the work of HSC students onsite at the Library, online through the Library's website and on tour to regional NSW public libraries.
The anthology is on sale through the NSW Education Standards Authority shop online.
