Murray was on top for the bulk of the second half, eventually prevailing 3-2 at Shepparton's John McEwen Reserve on Saturday night.
After a heated start, the game swung in the visitors' favour on the half-hour mark when Suns' defender Jacob Lever was sent off.
Murray captain Ashley Dunn played Tom Youngs in behind in what would have been a one-on-one with the keeper, before Lever came across and took him out.

The game opened up in the second half as Lewis Greenwood started the scoring frenzy in the 65th minute with a crisp volley.
Youngs drew a penalty two minutes later and converted from the spot, before Greenwood added another in the 84th minute when he knocked in a blocked shot from the boot of Jade North.
Murray conceded two goals late in the peace, including a handball in the box to allow a penalty with the last kick of the game, but took the three points nonetheless.
"The red card changed the game," Murray coach Elliot Jones said.
"Just through sheer weight of possession in the second half, I think we broke them down and we cashed in with some goals."
