Despite being 37 and joining one of the league's battling sides, the former AFL player says he still has plenty to offer at John Foord Oval.
"I know I'm getting near the end of my playing career but I thought why not," Cupido said.
"I've been kicking a lot of goals over the past few years and I'd be disappointed if I wasn't getting four or five shots on goal a game.
"I think I'm good enough to achieve that.
"Hopefully I can kick three or four a game and there's your 50 or 60 for the year.
"I'm a realist and it's hard to put a number on it but I think that would be a huge pass mark coming back to the Ovens and Murray at my age."
He has spoken to coach Marc Almond about putting in a big pre-season and dismissed any injury concerns.
"Touch wood, I think my body will be able to hold up," he said.
"I've missed four games of footy through injury since 2004.

"I'm the most durable footballer I know.
"I've had a really good run with injury and, if I was injury-plagued, I wouldn't even be contemplating playing Ovens and Murray again."
Almond is desperate to improve after finishing with a 2-16 win-loss ratio.
