REVISED plans for the former Meramie property in Kiewa Street have been submitted to Albury Council with the applicants still wanting to demolish the property with local heritage significance.

Its most recent use was university student accommodation more than five years ago.
Consultants engaged by applicants, Ian and Joy Clark, claim efforts to reuse the existing property were impractical and financially prohibitive and instead propose to build four attached townhouses.
The present building has undergone further investigation by a structural engineer and building certifier to determine its present condition.
"Any potential refurbishment of the building to comprise a functional and efficient layout with appropriate standards reflective of a premium dwelling in central Albury, would require a substantial internal and external redevelopment," the updated development application compiled by Habitat Planning states.
"It could only be achieved via demolition of a substantial proportion of the building, including the intrusive additions to the building frontage and unsympathetic additions to the southern and western sides.
"It is emphasised that the decision to progress with a proposal to demolish and redevelop the site has been made cautiously by the landowners, and with regard to the effect on the surrounding heritage context.
The proposed two storey apartments will be set back 9.5 metres from the front boundary of the block behind retained large street trees.
It's unclear when the latest Meramie plan will be determined by council.
