It has been more than a year since 13 recommendations came out of a federal government inquiry looking into improving the economy in regional areas and Indi MP Helen Haines says it is "poor form" that nothing has been done.

But before any action is taken on the last inquiry, a new one has already been launched.
About six months ago the federal government asked an expert panel, including Wodonga mayor Anna Speedie, to put together a report on how to implement the recommendations from the 2018 inquiry, but the report has never been publicly released.
"I want to see that report because I want to get on with the job of improvements to the prosperity of rural and regional Australia," Dr Haines said.
"It's poor form that we have not seen the findings of the expert panel."

In response to a question in Parliament this week, Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said his "department is working very much on making sure that we get the final response to that important report".
In the meantime, Dr Haines has been added to the membership of yet another committee on regional Australia.
This inquiry will "look at the contribution regional Australia makes to the nation's identity, economy and environment" and submissions can be made until until mid-November at www.aph.gov.au/regionalaustralia.
Dr Haines was wearing the yellow and black on Friday ready for her team's preliminary final against Geelong.
"My family have been Richmond supporters for generations," she said.
"I'll see cheering from home and hope we'll be lining up for a grand final next week."
