Slot holders have so far shunned Scott's stable star for the $1.3-million feature on October 19.
Bennelong Dancer was expected to be a strong chance to gain a slot after producing a career best performance when third in the Country Championship final at Randwick in early April.
The six-year-old mare resumed from a 18-week spell at Warwick Farm last month where she finished last in the field of nine.
Scott said she was to blame for the uncharacteristic flop.
"With hindsight I probably sent her around at Warwick Farm when she wasn't quite ready," Scott said.
"I loaded the gun and fired it too early because she just wasn't ready for it.
"It was my error more than anything else.
"If she had of run a nice race she would have been a better chance of getting a run in the Kosciuszko."
Bennelong Dancer finished less than two lengths behind Country Championship winner Noble Boy.
Noble Boy is quoted as the $4.60-second favourite for the Kosciuszko with Victorem the $4-favourite.
Scott felt slot holders underrated her mighty mare.
"Considering her record I do think most people still underrate her," she said.
"I think one of the biggest problems is most of the slot holders are north of Sydney and not this side.
"So that didn't help our cause either."
Bennelong Dancer is set to target the $50,000 Weary Dunlop Hcp, (1206m) at Benalla on Friday.
The Weary Dunlop is the feature sprint on Benalla Cup day.
She is also nominated for a race at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
"It looks a nice race for her," Scott said.
"We don't have to travel far and she doesn't get in too bad at the weights with 57.5kg."
