But Max Perryman and Gordon 'Froggy' Finlayson will unite and be part of the orange army cheering on the GWS Giants against Richmond at the MCG on Saturday.
The pair share a common bond with Max the father of Giants defender, Harry, while Gordon is the proud parent of in-form tall forward Jeremy.
Max is a former Osborne forward and fondly remembers having plenty of battles with Gordon during his time at Culcairn.

"Froggy was always pretty hard at it and a fairly tough player," Max said.
"It's fair to say he wasn't the most skillful player at Culcairn.
"But he definitely was one of the hardest at the contest.
"I'm not sure why but we would more often than not end up having a bit of a stoush against each other.
"He was a fairly lippy opponent and we would always exchange a few words.
"I see Froggy all the time now at GWS matches but haven't talked about the past."
The Riverina boasts a strong contingent of GWS players with Jeremy, Harry, Harry Himmelberg, Jacob Hopper and Zac Williams all playing in the grand final.
Froggy remembers playing his last match of his career against Osborne when he broke several ribs.
"Osborne must have long memories and got some pay back that day," he joked.
