North Albury fired an early warning to the rest of the competition by defeating Lavington by five wickets in their Twenty20 clash at Bunton Park on Sunday. In a replay of last year's Twenty20 and one-day finals, the Hoppers showed they could be even more formidable with recruits Ryan Addison and Jake Burge leading the way. Addison and Burge took four and two wickets respectively to roll their opponents for 81 before opener Ben Paddle (28) and Brendan Simmons (15) did enough early to overcome a middle-order collapse. Lavington's Matt Tom topscored for his side with 40 not out. Wodonga completed an impressive weekend by defeating East Albury by 49 runs at Les Cheesley Oval. Tom Johnson and Jack Craig did the damage with half-centuries while Mason Brown grabbed three wickets. St Patrick's defeated New City and Tallangatta edged out Albury by one run. Belvoir accounted for Wodonga Raiders.
