On Sunday, five Riverina rinks took on Ovens and Murray in a cross-border challenge at Holbrook, with Ovens and Murray prevailing, 198-100.
Teams from Riverina were: Sue Thurley, Jeanette Tuckwell, Pam Kaletta and Jo Merkel (skip); Mary James, Kath Baggeridge, Kaye Habermann and Hazel Sims (skip); Sandra Kitt, Barbara Brownfield, Joan Deuis and Shirley Geddes (skip); May Burgess, Lyn Martin, Lauris Klippel and Helen Richards (skip); Karen Wilson, Sandra Salomon, Heather Chaston and Lynne Forck (skip).

Teams from Ovens and Murray were: Barb McDonald, Jodie Fruend, Claire Sanders and Anne Miles (skip); Laureen Smith, Lyn Foots, Carol Fair and Mary Tragardh (skip); Marg Bedford, Caroline Reilly, Deb Crothers and Kylie Whitehead (skip); Sue Middleton, Caroline Taylor, Kerrie Leask and Jude Bartel (skip); Karen Nicholls, Peta Mattys, Gail Banfield and Sharon Warfe (skip).
McDonald, Fruend, Sanders and Miles were Ovens and Murray's best performed rink, while Thurley, Tuckwell, Kaletta and Merkel stood out for Riverina.
Henty Women's Bowling Club held its annual invitation triples earlier in the month, with Holbrook's Pauline Cheney, Pam Kaletta and Jo Merkel victorious.
The Commercial trio of Hazel Sims, Kaye Habermann and Mary James finished runners-up ahead of clubmates Pam Worth, Roma Newman and Faye McDonnell, while Chris Johnson (Wagga RSL) and Jenny Mitchell (Wagga Rules) rounded out the top five.
A full quota of 28 teams participated with bowlers from Commercial, North Albury, Lavington, Culcairn, Holbrook, Walla, Wodonga, Wagga RSL, Wagga Rules, Leeton and The Rock.
Riverina District Women's Bowling Association also ran its annual District Shield competition this month.
The Holbrook team of Poppy Musgrave, Ann Aird, Pam Kaletta and Jo Merkel were the winners.
This was the second consecutive year they've won the shield after taking out the title in 2018.
Runners-up on a countback were Pam Dunn, Chris Barnes, Kath Baggeridge and Kaye Habermann from Commercial.
Fourteen teams entered, playing three games of ten ends in trying conditions.
Three-game winners then played off for the shield.
After two games, five teams had won five games.
The weather was at its worst during the third game and play was stopped after six ends.
Only one of the five teams was ahead on their rink after six ends.
