Tuffey said his side hadn't made enough runs in recent campaigns and wants to buck the trend in Sunday's opening round clash against Murrumbidgee Rangers at Xavier Oval.
"Our batting has let us down during the past two years," Tuffey said.
"That's our big focus to improve.
"We lost a lot of wickets against Wagga at Billson Park two years ago and we did the same thing against Wagga and ACT last year.
"We want to rectify that.
"I think we have the batsmen who can do this job this year which will allow our bowlers to go about their business."
The Bullets trained at Alexandra Park on Wednesday night with Tuffey set to finalise his squad on Friday.
It was the first time international players Tarisai Musakanda (New City) and Romario Greaves (East Albury) had met most of the squad.
"We had a good session with the international boys getting to know everyone," Tuffey said.
"I know you always say it, but I'm quietly confident the boys will do well."
After Sunday's match, the Bullets take on the ACT Aces and Wagga Sloggers in Canberra on November 3 for a place in the state semi-finals.
