Last year's winners racked up 15 goals to the Tigers' four, with nine of them coming from the hand of Sharks' star Leah Dodd.
Sally Lefoe and Darcy Millett contributed two goals a piece in the victory, while the Tigers felt the absence of talented youngster Kate Johnson in the pool.
Sharks' Dodd said her side is showing some positive signs early in the season.
"She (Johnson) is definitely a bit of an attacking threat, so her being out definitely helped our cause," Dodd said.
"We were able to bring up a few extra juniors this week, which was good.
"I felt it was a pretty fast paced game.
"I thought our girls showed a pretty good level of fitness for this time of year, which was good to see.
"It was a good win in the end."
Kira Dawson and Meg McInnes were the best for Albury.
In the men's competition on Sunday, it was a slightly closer game between Sharks and the Northside Stingrays.
Three goals was the margin, with top scorer Ollie Cooper dubbed best in the pool for his performance.
He was well supported by teammate Ben Douglass, while Brad Woodland and Elih Mutsch were best for Northside.
In the second men's game, the Pool Pirates got themselves on the winners list this season with a win against Albury Tigers.
Eight to three was the finishing score, with Danny Nugent putting forward a strong display for the Pirates.
Albury missed the scoring ability of Jimmy Scammell in the clash at Waves.
The A-grade women's mixed side also took on the Pool Pirates.
