Riverina Police District Inspector Adrian Telfer said Port Macquarie resident Ruth Ridley, aged 58, had traveled to the area from the state's mid-north coast on October 22.

"She was last seen in the Tumbarumba area last Wednesday," Inspector Telfer said.

"We're appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.

"At this stage we are concerned for her welfare. We have been able to identify that she was in the Albury area on Thursday but that is our last sighting of her.

"We're appealing for people to have a look at her photograph and if they have seen her to please contact local police."

Mrs Ridley has been described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 175 centimetres tall with a thin build, fair complexion and blonde hair.

Mrs Ridley stayed that evening of October 22 at a home in Tumbarumba and was last seen at that location on the morning of October 23.

Inspector Telfer said Mrs Ridley's adult children and family were concerned for her welfare.

"She has family who live in Tumbarumba so we believe she traveled her to visit family and friends," he said.

"That's why we are concerned that we can't locate her.

The woman was reported missing on Wednesday and officers attached to Riverina Police District commenced an investigation.
